How tough it is to be a model?

In case you want to be a model however you don’t think you got what it takes because you are too healthy, too old, too ugly, short and so on. Usually most people think of models they think of Kate Moss, Naomi Cambell, Carmen Kass, Heidi Klum, Elle McPherson and other famous male models and female models. There are also other famous models such as Pamela Anderson Isabeli Fontana, Natalia Vodianova, the list goes on and on. It is a fact that these are all famous and beautiful women and obviously their looks played a crucial role in the work they do and the fame they achieved. If these female models didn't look them way they do would they have become so famous and such big earners. You are probably wondering how you could possibly make a living as a model, male model or female model, if you don't have a great body and drop dead gorgeous looks. Well the simple fact is that there is much more to modeling than just cat walk, glamour or fashion.

So many times you see advertisements on TV for hair products, teeth, nails, hands, eyes and so on. These all had to have models to promote the product. You may not be 6ft 2in tall and you do not have the best shaped face but you have the most amazing hair or maybe your teeth are dead straight and white as snow well then this is what you use to make a good lifestyle. How about feet, hands, bum, the list goes on and on so there is a market. Now when you have decided you have the best arms and nails around and feel you could get some work using them for modeling is from where to begin, the very first part is to find an agency and this can be tricky as there are a lot of aspiring models out there ready to scam you. Once you find a good modeling agency they will be able to provide you with some photographers to get your portfolio together, again you need to be careful as you could easily get ripped off here also. How to pose like a model

There are times when people would compliment you that you look great, almost as good as a model. However, when it comes to photograph, you might not be satisfied with them as you do not find them like models. To know all about modeling, you need to have proper learning of it, like in a model agency. Many agencies like modeling agencies not only teach you about photography, but also a lot about posing and your posture. There are a few basic tricks that you can practice on your own to give yourself a pose like a model.

A model can learn from any source that is available to him. Shuffle through different fashion magazines and learn how the models are posing. Take a closer look and find out how they are presenting their hands, limbs, head, eyes and lips. They might be telling something with the poses they are presenting. Try to find the hidden meaning behind the photograph.

The most important trick is to breathe. Although it might be obvious to keep breathing while one is taking a shot, many of us hold our breaths for a short while. The key is to relax and stay natural. Hold your pose, but do not hold your breath. This happens because we are holding a pose and are somewhat nervous about it. In order to provide your body a beautiful posture, keep your back straight and your shoulders upright. This posture will present a complete model-like pose. It might not always be important to slouch or hunch your back. If you do that, you will no longer have the held in stomach which can give a poor presentation to your pictures. One more way to increase the wow-factor in your photos is to point your nose away from the camera. Looking in the camera straight can give great photos. However, it would work for very few models. Generally, you should tilt your head towards one side so that your nose points away from the camera. If a model has a jaw-line, make it prominent. A model can do this by moving their head up and tilting. Looking away from the camera proves to be a win-win idea. To bring more life to the pictures, you can turn your head and try different head and eye poses. Eyes are a good way of speaking your inner feelings as they are windows to your soul.

Practice makes the model perfect. While you are learning, keep practicing with your digital camera. You can place it on a tripod and play with your poses. You can also find it easy to practice in front of the mirror initially. The more you practice, the better you will become. It might also be a good idea to get help from a particular friend who is good at taking great pictures. Do not worry if you are not getting the desired model-like pictures in the beginning.

Too young to model?

It begs the question. When is the right time to go into modelling agency? The one career you have set your heart on. In an increasingly disturbing contest, girls as young as 12 and 13 are made to parade themselves for a beauty contest. Even more disturbingly, they are encouraged to do so by their own mothers.

In an age where being young, pretty and slim is subtly and cleverly encouraged by the media, those who should be protecting us could be infact doing the exact opposite. The girls are child models, but made to parade beauty contests as though they are professional, women models.

According to the dailymail tabloid, younger and younger girls are becoming more aware of their body images and how the celebrity world is changing at such a rapid pace. Thirteen year old Tayla for example is a straight student with a desire to take part in beauty contests. Many have also criticised that the mothers of these child models are living their lives through their little girls and it is unfair for them to be categorised into the women-modelling category, when they are still children. However, Tayla’s mother insists that her daughter is mature and sensible and wants her to have the opportunities that are available today that she herself was unable to have.

Size Zero is not attractive

Would you ever want to be a size zero? If yes then why? All you will be is skin and bone and unattractive to the majority of men and even women for that matter. This is what a good modelling agency recommends.

The media world portrays girls to be seen as slim, however this does not address the need to balance this with the need to project an image of healthy eating and the fuller figure woman which is more reflective of our society as a whole.

This increase has been provoked by the media and the modeling world today. Being size zero puts a lot of girls at a serious health risk. Figures have shown that there is an 80% rise in the number of girls admitted to hospital with anorexia in the last decade!

Marilyn Monroe was a voluptuous size 12 with gorgeous curves and is a legendary female in the media world; she has never been seen as fat or overweight as she had a perfect figure in many peoples opinions. However, Women have become more pressured to become slimmer as a result of the ‘photo shopped’ images which grace our magazines and the waif like bodies of the models who we regulary see on catwalks.

Models are role models for women and men today as models are seen everywhere, on television, magazines, newspapers and billboards. Models do not realize that girls want to be like them more and more every day. Girls will want to know what makeup their role model wears to what diet they are on, and they will do anything they can to do the same.

Size zero is not a joke. The health risks of anorexia are severe and very dangerous. Anorexia can cause heart problems, osteoporosis (where bones become very brittle due to lack of calcium), mental health issues and if a person is not helped to deal with their anorexia it can even lead to death in very extreme cases. Approximately 1 in 10 women with anorexia will die of starvation, cardiac arrest, or other medical complications, this has made the death rate for anorexia the highest for a psychiatric disease.

Size zero is not attractive, and it has many health risks linked to it. If you are thinking about trying to become a size zero for vanity or to pursue a modeling career, think again. Your health is far more important and the size zero obsession will pass as quickly as fashion changes.
